Laser cleaning of all surfaces

Rust, mill scale, paint, varnish, pollution on stone: the laser removes the unwanted layer with no blasted abrasive, no water and no chemical stripper. We own our machine.

Laser removal of rust from a steel plate: the treated area is back to bare metal

How it works

A laser beam sweeps across the surface. The layer to be removed (rust, paint, varnish, dirt) absorbs the energy and lifts off or vaporises, while the underlying surface is preserved when the power and speed are correctly set. Residue is minimal: no sand to clear away, no dirty water, no drums of chemical stripper.

CAZRénovation owns its 500 W laser: we do not subcontract this work, which lets us fine-tune every job and remain available.

Which surfaces?

Metal

Rust, mill scale, old paint, grease: railings, gates, ironwork, metal frames and structures, furniture, mechanical parts. Especially useful by the sea, where corrosion spreads fast. Bare metal must be protected quickly: we schedule the anti-corrosion coat straight afterwards.

Stone, basalt and concrete

Pollution, black marks, moss and lichen, streaks: the laser cleans without spraying water or sand, which protects joints, surrounding areas and planting.

Wood and heritage

On detailed woodwork (lambrequins (decorative eave trims) on Creole houses, mouldings, shutters, beams), the laser removes layers of paint without rounding off the details the way sanding would. Wood requires careful settings: we always carry out a test first.

Advantages… and limitations

  • Precise: we treat one area or one detail without spilling over.
  • Clean: no abrasives, no water, no chemicals; no heavy containment needed on site.
  • On site: parts can often be treated without being dismantled.
  • Limitations: on a very large flat surface, sandblasting can be quicker; some thin or heat-sensitive materials are not suitable. We will tell you honestly at the assessment stage.

Site safety

Cordoned-off area, laser-specific safety glasses for everyone present, personal protective equipment, and fume and dust extraction depending on the surface.

Pricing: per m² or per hour

Laser output varies greatly with the layer to be removed: a film of pollution comes off quickly, while thick rust needs several passes. That is why we offer two options: per square metre for regular surfaces, per hour for complex parts. The quote is free.

FAQ

Does the laser damage the surface?

Properly set, the laser removes the unwanted layer and stops at the substrate. We always run a test on an inconspicuous area to adjust power and speed before treating the whole surface, especially on wood and stone.

Which surfaces can be laser stripped?

Metal (rust, mill scale, paint, grease), stone and basalt (pollution, moss, stains), concrete, and wood with care (paint and varnish on woodwork, shutters, beams). Some thin or heat-sensitive materials are not suitable: we will tell you at the assessment stage.

Is laser more expensive than sandblasting?

On a very large flat surface, sandblasting can be faster. But the laser avoids having to contain the site, remove sand, or use water and chemicals, and it allows parts to be treated in place. We price per square metre or per hour depending on the job.

What should be done after laser stripping metal?

By the sea, bare steel starts to oxidise quickly. We apply or schedule anti-corrosion protection right after stripping so the result lasts.

Is the worksite safe?

Yes: cordoned-off area, laser-appropriate safety glasses and personal protective equipment, and dust extraction depending on the surface. The site stays clean: there is no abrasive to sweep up.
